Dr Bro McFerran CBE DSc

Bro McFerran is Managing Director of Allstate Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland’s largest IT company, employing over 2000 people. He took up his current position in January 1999 when the company set up in Northern Ireland. Allstate Northern Ireland provides high quality software development services and business process outsourcing solutions in support of its parent company Allstate, one of the largest insurance companies in the US.
He was one of the founding board members of the Software Industry Federation in Northern Ireland (now Momentum), and it’s second Chairman. He is currently a non-Executive Director of the Northern Bank, a non-Executive Director of the Strategic Investment Board for Northern Ireland (an OFMDFM appointment), a board member of Business in the Community, and a Board Member of Springvale Training. He is a Past President of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce. He is Chairman of the Belfast Workforce Development Forum which is a Department of Employment & Learning appointment. He is currently a board member of Business in the Community in Northern Ireland and chairs the Business Action on Health group.
Mr McFerran was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List of June 2005 for services to the IT Industry of Northern Ireland. He received an honorary degree of Doctor of Science from the University of Ulster for services to economic development in June 2010. He was presented with the Institute of Directors/Lunns Award of Excellence in January 2007. He received an Annual Award of Distinction from Belfast Institute of Higher and Further Education in November 2004 in recognition of his achievements in employment and economic development. Mr McFerran was awarded the “IT Professional of the Year” award by the Northern Ireland Branch of BCS in 2001.
Mr McFerran was educated at St Malachy’s College and Queen’s University, Belfast where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He is married to Pat and has three children and one grandchild, and lives in Belfast.Bookmark this page with:
