Mr Adair’s career started with Rothmans International with a variety of engineering and manufacturing management roles. He became Director and General Manager of the Ballymena engineering company, Flexibox at the age of 28. He was the first Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Quality Centre, established as a key business improvement agent for the public, private and voluntary sectors. In this role he worked with and facilitated the development of a wide range of organisations.  He joined the DDL Group (European arm of Nasdaq quoted electronics firm) as Managing Director of Irlandus Circuits Limited in January 1994, assuming the European Group MD role in 1996.  He purchased Irlandus Circuits from DDL in November 1999.

Mr Adair joined Belfast Harbour Commissioners in 2005 as Operations Director and was promoted later that year to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

During his career, Roy has held many non executive positions in organisations such as the Engineering Employers’ Federation, Marketing Growth International, Institute of Directors (as Northern Ireland Chair of Economic Strategy), Ulster Branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union, Printed Circuit Industry Federation and the Northern Ireland Strategy 2010 Task Force.

  • UK Panel Member for the National Training Awards

A native of Belfast, he is married with three children. He has a 1st class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
