Finding a Balance – Work-life Balance Workshop
Continuing on from the Work-life Balance campaign that was run from 2000 to 2003, Business in the Community is now offering Work-life Balance workshops to employers to help them implement and integrate work-life balance procedures into the workplace.
The success of work-life balance is dependent on whether or not it is central to and integrated within an organisation’s values. Work-life balance strategies should be viewed as helping the organisation to achieve its aims.
Organisations need to adopt a holistic approach to implementing work-life balance strategies which consider the potential impact on all employees. People are increasingly balancing a range of activities, interests and relationships outside work and striving to meet the increasing demands of the workplace to provide quality goods and services around the clock. Getting the balance wrong can result in damaging short and long term consequences for the individual, their family, business and even the community as a whole. Getting it right can reduce stress, increase productivity, increase staff motivation and commitment and ultimately improve the quality of our lives.
It is hoped that the learning and tools shared through the Work-Life Balance workshop will go some way to supporting organisations to successfully implement work-life balance.
The workshop objectives are to:
- Provide delegates with an understanding of the rationale, benefits and practices of work-life balance.
- Clarify the issues involved in managing flexible working.
- Look at best practice with regard to introducing new ways of working within each organisation.
- Develop a clear understanding of the next steps involved in implementing planned actions.
- Create an enhanced understanding of the Finding a Balance project.
