Building on Talent

People graphicBuilding on Talent promotes a unique employee development opportunity through specifically tailored short term projects within the community and voluntary sector. It provides employers with meaningful, real and live opportunities to challenge and develop their employees.

Employees who participate in Building on Talent are more adaptable and can respond quickly to new opportunities to achieve success.  They are more confident and effective in their existing role and able to get up to speed quickly in a new role.

The Building on Talent programme helps employees identify and value their existing skills.  It provides employees with a real and necessary project in a voluntary sector organisation to develop on existing strengths and weaknesses. The programme gives employees hard evidence to boost confidence in taking on new roles or activities. It also provides the employer with a unique sustaining method to support its corporate social responsibility agenda by investing much needed expertise into the community sector of Northern Ireland.

Programme Structure

Employees select a real project to complete for a voluntary organisation.  The project is completed on a flexible part-time or full-time basis over a time bound period - normally 12 days over three months. Business in the Community manages the placement to ensure both the voluntary sector objectives and employee objectives are achieved and a lasting and tangible benefit to both realised.
