Cares - Employee benefits
It is a massive commitment for an organisation to allow a large number of staff off work for a day or even half a day in order to participate in a Cares challenge. The challenges are designed to ensure employees are getting something out of the challenge and developing skills that will be beneficial in their own jobs. Below are some of the benefits that employees can expect to gain from participating in a Cares challenge.
A chance to develop personal skills such as time management, communication and presentation skills
Cares challenges are great fun but there is also a lot of hard work involved and as such, effective project management is required. The challenges can be used as a means of introducing employees to the challenges of management or as a way of seeing how employees react to unfamiliar surroundings. Either way the challenges are an effective way of developing employee communication.
An opportunity to work in a completely new environment and develop transferable skills
Many organisations have commented on how useful the Cares challenges have been in seeing how employees react to a completely new environment. Employees relish the chance to get involved to get involved in areas of work they are not used to and often surprise themselves with how well they adapt. Leadership and time management are examples of just some of the skills that can be developed as part of a Cares challenge and then transferred into the place of work.
The chance to meet and work with people from other departments
The challenges offer a great opportunity for people from different departments who would not usually get the opportunity to work together and get to know each other. This can aid communication once these employees have returned to their normal working environment.
An extra dimension to life by providing new experiences outside the usual work and social environment
Many people talk about their desire but often say they cannot because of time restrictions, particularly with work. Cares challenges allow employees to be part of something that can make a massive difference to the local community and in doing so provide them with experiences they would otherwise be unlikely to have. It gives those who participate a new experience they can learn from and an opportunity to contribute to an issue that they really care about.
