Inspiring and engaging business to develop essential skills in young people, enhancing self-esteem and confidence, raising aspirations and improving future readiness for the world of work.

 

What we're working on...

  • Time to Read

    This exciting, interactive volunteering initiative aims to foster an enjoyment of reading and build the confidence and social skills of children at Key Stage 2. We match you with two children in P5 at a local primary school and you go there for one hour each week for a one-to-one paired reading session with those children.

  • Charter Work Inspiration

    There is a distinct knowledge gap between what young people know and what the world of work requires them to know. The traditional school work experience requirement of 3-5 days doesn’t suit everyone and for those that cannot offer this, we can develop one day insights or outreach events that will inspire young people about companies or sectors. The administrative burden of work experience for employers is also reduced, making them more likely to offer meaningful placements.

    Business in the Community is engaged in a number of activities designed to meet the complex challenges related to attracting more young people to study STEM subjects, enhancing awareness of the existence of a vibrant STEM private sector offering exciting career opportunities.

    Adopt-a-School is a business-led initiative which aims to further extend links between business and education.  It offers exciting opportunities for businesses to engage in a range of activities in primary and secondary schools to help better prepare pupils for the world of work.
