Youth Mentoring Programmes
The job market of today is a hostile place for anyone, but particularly for those people who are furthest from the job market such as young people leaving care and young offenders.
Reducing the number of young people not in formal education, training or employment can help save money, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and improve life chances for young people.
Businesses have an important role to play in this – not just as future employers of young people, but also as potential providers of the kind of tailored support and guidance that these marginalised groups often need.
Business in the Community works in partnership with the Youth Justice Agency and South Eastern Health and Social care Trust to provide young offenders and care leavers with the opportunity to avail of a bespoke mentoring and work placement programmes.
This one-to-one mentoring support aims to enhance personal development and employability skills such as motivation, self-regulation, empathy, self-understanding and social skills – all vital to success in the modern workplace. Our youth mentoring programmes provide mentors with a unique opportunity to use their skills and knowledge to help change someone's life and unlock their full potential.
