Mosaic

Mosaic works towards a more integrated and thriving society where all individuals, regardless of background, are supported in realizing their potential.

Founded by HRH The Prince of Wales and convened by his charity Business in the Community, Mosaic was launched in November 2007 as a multiple set of initiatives designed to support young Muslims and their peers growing up in our deprived areas, whilst also breaking down barriers and suspicions within British society.

Any mosaic is more than the sum of its individual parts…become a part of Mosaic and make it mean even more to those who need it.

Issues

The issues facing young Muslims are particularly acute in our most deprived areas.

  • a lack of positive role models and access to opportunities
  • a lack of positive media coverage of Muslims contributions to society
  • a lack of effective community leadership in developing cohesion and links to other communities
  • a lack of understanding among non-Muslims about the role of Muslims in society

Initiatives

Mosaic mentoring - mentors are paired with young Muslims aged 5 - 25 from deprived backgrounds, at primary and secondary school as well as supporting ex-offenders.

Mosaic Media Network - Muslims working within the media to engage communities and provide opportunities for young Muslims.

Mosaic Speakers Bureau - Muslim community representatives available for comment, participation and interviews at a variety of platforms.

Mosaic Talent Awards - to celebrate the successes and positive contributions of Muslims to British society.

Mosaic International Summer School - an innovative two week leadership and enterprise programme bringing together Muslims from across the world to consider HRH The Prince of Wales' particular interests.

Mosaic currently works in London, Yorkshire & Humber, Lancashire, Leicester, Birmingham and soon to commence in Manchester and Bradford.
