The purpose of the Prince’s Rural Action Programme is to engage businesses to make a positive difference to rural communities, through the way in which they do business, in order to sustain the rural economy, protect and enhance the environment and protect the nation’s cultural heritage and landscape.

Guided by our Rural Action Leadership Team, the Programme focuses on the themes below. See our new publication, Responsible Business Through a Rural Lens (3286 kb) [pdf] for a thorough overview of the issues and how to take action.  

 

  • Future of British food and farming

    Food production and farming is experiencing a crisis of confidence and severe volatility in farm income. Business has a key role to play in helping to secure the future of British farming.

  • Sustainable rural communities

    Rural communities face disadvantage and a number of distinct challenges that threaten their future.  We are working with business and stakeholders to address these.

  • Maintaining the Countryside

    The countryside provides vital environmental, cultural and economic services. The Prince's Countryside Fund has just been launched to enable businesses and their customers to contribute to the upkeep of this irreplaceable resource.

  • Get involved

    Get involved with the work of The Prince's Rural Action Programme, through partnerships, joining the Leadership Team or through entering the Northern Foods Rural Action Award.
