Laundry Ladies - Keeping it Clean

Laundry Ladies offer a free delivery and collection service which means that their clients never need to come to them. Their late opening hours are intended to include the needs of their domestic customers who typically will require the delivery and collection service during the evening.

The central areas covered are Birmingham and Dudley. Bookings for deliveries and collections take place on a daily basis and they ‘block book’ when making the diary appointments so that all visits to customers happen consecutively. Journeys are planned using the shortest route taking into account the addresses of each customer. The nearest customer to the driver in the locality being booked is visited first or last depending on their requirements, with consecutive appointments taking place thereafter.

Both drivers are home based so there is no ‘base’ to be reported back to. The company does not employ staff who live more than 6 miles away. Whilst taking into consideration the requirements of the customers, the drivers try to avoid rush-hour driving. The company uses local suppliers and only receives deliveries through Royal Mail, therefore limiting their carbon footprint.
