It’s enabled me to have a real career with definite opportunities and it’s given me some real goals.  It’s changed my life, it’s absolutely brilliant

LendLease’s BeOnsite provides people from excluded groups with industry-relevant training and sustained employment within the property industry. To date, 3,000 have been supported through job brokerage, 216 people have been provided with training and over 50% of participants have remained in direct employment with BeOnsite for more than 6 months.

The Story

Sustainability has been an integral part of Lend Lease’s culture for more than 50 years. To make a difference to social sustainability and inclusion in the UK, Lend Lease employees set up a dedicated not-for-profit company called BeOnsite in 2007.

BeOnsite responds to community needs and builds local partnerships to provide people from excluded groups with industry relevant training and sustained employment in the property sector.

BeOnsite is unique in the UK. It is the only organisation that provides a combination of:
Opportunities for people from excluded groups including: long-term unemployed, homeless, ex-offenders, serving prisoners, BAME, and people with disabilities;

  • Training with a range of partner organisations, specifically tailored to each job role;
  • Working with industry supply chain and training organisations to develop and deliver training in-line with industry needs and modern methods of construction;
  • Direct employment with BeOnsite, providing a ‘foot in the door’ to work and ongoing continuity of employment with one, stable employer, regardless of project duration.

Lives have been transformed and communities regenerated as a result. Lasting successful regeneration of the communities and places that we are entrusted to develop lies at the heart of BeOnsite. We have made a real contribution to tackling the poverty and disadvantage that blights some of our most deprived communities by generating growth and employment.

  • Ensure people understand not only the tangible business benefits but why it is the right thing to do as well.
  • Always give back as much recognition to partners as possible and be seen to give back more than you take.
