Anglian Water - Water in the World

Anglian Water has invested in an extensive programme of  education which is a core component of delivering its social and corporate responsibility agenda.

PROCESSES

Two new education centres and a mobile centre visiting rural communities, a website and education materialshave been developed. The programme also embraces water for health
initiatives of national importance and provides support for employee volunteers in education related projects. These resources are directed to educating young people and the wider public about water issues, delivering on a real commitment to giving something back to the community.

The education programme is working to change people’s behaviours towards water as a vital resource and foster responsible attitudes on water usage, waste disposal, hydration issues and promote environmental concern.

Anglian Water fulfils demand from ducationalists for up to date information, visits and support to
schools when delivering the National Curriculum, supplemented by an active employee  olunteering
programme of talks with the company’s ‘give me five’ initiative.

  •  An education team with qualified teachers
  • Two education centres and a mobile centre
  • Development of a character, ‘Captain Splosh’, to promote the primary education programme and Water for

Impact

  • Indicators such as extensive positive media coverage and excellent reviews from teachers and stakeholders show Anglia Water has enhanced its reputation and built new relationships
  • From 150 teachers, 100% rated education sessions in centres as very good or excellent with all planning to take action on water conservation
  • Free exciting educational opportunities and support to schools, enhancing educational experience and encouraging the raising of achievement
  • Evidence shows Anglia Water is influencing behaviours and fostering responsible attitudes towards water
  • Promoting employee pride in the company and developing the workforce through the volunteering programme.
