Anglian Water Most Innovative New Programme Regional Award

Winner: Aid to Hospitals Worldwide

Aid to Hospitals Worldwide was founded in 2004 to ensure good, but de-commissioned medical equipment in the UK was no longer being sent for scrap.  Working in partnership with the NHS their aim is to save lives by reusing recycled equipment in the developing world.  To date it has supplied medical and social aid to recognised charitable organisations in 28 different developing countries across three continents.

Locally it makes a significant contribution to the overall carbon reduction of the NHS by reusing equipment, rather than it being sent to land fill.  Aid to Hospitals Worldwide also work with business partners to recycle equipment for the developing world.

As well as supplying life saving equipment to the developing world, they provide volunteering opportunities to socially disadvantaged people and prisoners thus giving them new skills, recognised qualifications and work placement experience.
