Workplace Health and Well-being Award - Highly Commended

Asidua Workplace Health and Well-being

Asidua recognises the importance of work-life balance and associated health and well-being issues for all employees.  It believes that fostering an appropriate working environment through culture, policies, communication and mechanisms ensures that employees are enabled to be productive and effective in managing all aspects of life, whether inside or outside work.

What they did

Asidua implemented a wide spectrum of initiatives to look at all aspects of employee health and well-being. These include

An external provider delivered training sessions to both Management and employees on the subject of stress management and awareness. Management training focused on enabling managers to be aware of their communications with others and how to identify stress triggers in order to manage this effectively.  Employee sessions focused on how individuals could identify and reduce their stress triggers.

A system was put in place to ensure employees are managed effectively with objectives and training needs being reviewed together with regular feedback on performance.  Training for both line managers and employees is delivered on a regular basis.

Asidua offers Preventative Healthcare scheme scheme to all employees, the scheme includes a confidential counselling service – on issues from work related stress, to bereavement and debt management.

Asidua has also worked in conjunction with the Financial Services Authority in order to have an independent financial adviser come on site to deliver Financial Awareness Sessions to employees.

At the centre of Asidua’s HR Processes, is a focus on work-life balance initiatives.  This includes the operation of a flexible hours system, where employees can start and finish work, and take their lunch breaks at times that suit both their personal circumstances and business need.

Asidua provide a fortnightly breakfast for employees.  The menu options provided focus on a balanced diet i.e. fresh fruit, yoghurts, scones, fruit juice, etc.  As well as providing food for employees, the “Breakfast Club” also provides the opportunity to network and socialise with wider Asidua colleagues that employees may not have the opportunity to interact with in the course of their normal duties.  We feel this is essential in fostering an inclusive and participative culture.

Asidua facilitates and pays for a confidential health screening service for employees on an annual basis.

  • Reduction in absenteeism from initiatives implemented.
