BalticPine Timber and Camborne Pool Redruth Education Action Zone

This was a well organised project, which gave our year six pupils an opportunity to work creatively with a professional. They were really enthused with the project. It was excellent for teamwork and really did raise their self-esteem. It gave the staff plenty of ideas for similar work in the future. There were so many good things to come out of this project.

Through the West Cornwall Business Broker, BalticPine Timber Corporation and the Camborne Pool Redruth Success Zone (the Education Action Zone) have successfully developed a project to produce 3D interpretations of famous paintings.

Processes

The Camborne Pool Redruth (CPR) Success Zone provided funding for an artist to work with three schools using waste timber donated by the BalticPine Timber Corporation, a local West Cornwall business, to produce three-dimensional interpretatios of famous artworks.

The work generated by the project is currently on display at locations throughout West Cornwall.

Alan Rowling from the CPR Zone commented:
"Amanda, our artist, motivated the youngsters brilliantly and allowed them to bring their own ideas into the artwork. You really have to see this work to appreciate the high quality achieved by the children."

"Corporate Social Responsibility is businesses' way of putting something back into society on a national basis. The West Cornwall Business Broker initiative and West Cornwall Together LSP is our way of putting something back on a local basis."
