What was life like before Ready for Work?

I was living in a hostel, wasn't working, wasn't training and it was the same thing: waking up, going about my business, going to sleep and not doing much productive.  It was quite boring and I needed a challenge - I needed to get back into work to stimulate my brain.

Howhas Ready for Work changed your life?

Ready for Work has changed my life in a momentous way.  It provided me not only with training for the job, but it also gave me a placement with Kantar Operations for two weeks which I think was very successful.  I got paired up with a buddy while I was there who helped me get into the placement and checked that everything was ok over the two weeks.  I also had a Job Coach who helped me work on my CV and look for jobs when the placement ended.

What was it about the programme that worked?

I think the programme is quite unique int he way it gives you the training that you need and confidence to apply for jobs.  It matches you up with a Job Coach who helped me work on my CV and look for jobs when the placement ended.

At the end of the day you've been homeless for a period of time and you may find adjusting slightly hard which is what the Job Coach and buddy are for.

How long have you been in employment now?

I've been in employment, including my internship at CNN, for 14 months as a freelancer.  I'm definately enjoying it - it's everything that I wanted to do as it's in media and I like all things creative.
