ENGAGE in Slovakia

Helping Heads

Helping Heads brings together Pontis Foundation’s member companies to cooperate with local organisations working with vulnerable sections of society such as families in crisis and children in foster homes in Slovakia. Helping Heads is one of the INCLUDE Transfer Projects.

Process

Helping Heads is an online platform which enables companies to share their business skills with NGOs supporting vulnerable groups.

Pontis Foundation works with the participating NGOs to identify their needs and to create volunteering activities to offer to company volunteers. The company can then search for an activity to match their employees skills set, such as:

  • Marketing and PR
  • HR
  • Law
  • Accounting, Audit and Finance
  • Translation
  • Strategic planning
  • And IT skills

The company can assess the scope of the work, the anticipated time for the activity and the number of volunteers required. The actual realisation of work is agreed between the volunteers and the NGO and is based on their time and capacity possibilities.

Example activities include:

  • Translating the yearly report for the Domov-Duha crisis centre, who provide of social services in the field of children and youth care.
  • Developing the presentation and communication skills of the employees and volunteers of the Kaspian community centre, which works with young people in Bratislava's largest housing development.
  • PowerPoint training for 10 teachers of an elementary school in Zahorska Bystrica. The goal of the training was to give teachers the basics of PowerPoint so that they are able to prepare presentations for pupils.
  • Creating electronic databases for Andreas, an NGO providing social care for people with autism.
  • Creating a marketing/PR plan for the celebration of the 15th anniversary of Hippo therapy at the Rosa social services centre.
