Invest NI - developing people

As an organisation that has been tasked with growing the Economy and attracting new investment into Northern Ireland, it is important for Invest NI to set a good example on responsible business practice. Invest NI sees good people development as the cornerstone in achieving their corporate responsibility strategy and in improving the service delivery of the organisation.

What they did

Invest NI became a member of the Business in the Community Cares programme. Its senior management team initiated this programme by completing an environmental challenge on Divis Mountain signalling real commitment at the highest level to the rest of the organisation.

Invest NI have developed a number of leadership and management programmes as it sees this as a critical step in the development of new managers. The programme they developed focused on the issues of leadership & management, problem solving & decision making, communication & motivation and business ethics & diversity. Once again Invest NI used Cares challenges to help deliver this programme as they offered experiential learning which Invest NI believes is most effective.

The Impact

A total of 152 Invest NI volunteers have participated in Cares challenges in a variety of locations throughout Northern Ireland. This has contributed to the delivery of several leadership and management programmes for Invest NI and has also had a massive impact on the various community groups and organisations that have been helped through the challenges.
