Emily Mills, Norse Commercial Services

London Stansted Individual Volunteering Award, Winner

Emily Mills works in the HR Department as a Personal Assistant at Norse Commercial Services. Emily has been assisting the Business Action on Homelessness programme for the last two years supporting homeless/vulnerable individuals to gain and sustain employment, to achieve independent living and to actively campaign for the removal of barriers to work.
Individual volunteering

In addition, Emily has been involved in the Project Search programme which aims to get young people aged between 18 – 24 with learning diffi culties into work and she has been highly proactive in fundraising events within Norse, engaging fellow employees to help raise money for local charities.

Emily champions members of staff within Norse to follow in her footsteps and become mentors for both programmes. She promotes the programmes across the different divisions of Norse and sources work placement opportunities.

She donates six full days per year to offering professional training and skills development - running two-day training courses presenting to classes of up to 15 individuals, teaching and refreshing the skills required to get them back into work.

She has also galvanised an entire team to enter and train for the Race for Life – raising money for Breast Cancer charities.

  • Emily has strengthened her presentation skills and gained confidence with her power of persuasion, all have helped to enhance her role within the organisation
