Within an organisation already committed to sustainability Garry has demonstrated leadership in the implementation of a new energy reduction programme, saving the company over £20,000 pa. Garry's personal leadership has also been recognised by some of RSK's key clients with Garry being asked to host lunchtime lectures to inspire staff on sustainability. He runs staff engagement programmes for RSK customers, helping them to meet their own carbon reduction commitments.
It is Garry's commitment to using his business acumen to benefit society that really positions him as an award winning leader. He has proved himself an inspiring and engaging leader by persuading the Parish Council at Ashton Hayes to try to become England's first carbon neutral community. His commitment to this project is ongoing, identifying local business funding, leading on grant applications, working with the University of Chester to persuade over 65% of the residents to take part in annual carbon footprint surveys, developing a website and liaising with the media both locally and internationally to share the village's journey to a low carbon lifestyle.
Most recently Garry co-founded the CarbonLeapfrog charity, providing pro bono professional support to help communities on their route to a low carbon lifestyle. Garry’s passion for sustainability has inspired people across the UK and globally: In five years he has addressed 120 other communities across the UK and made an IVCA award winning film, Our Footprint, Our Journey that has inspired thousands of people across the world.
