Stride Treglown assisted a Community Centre

A Community Centre in North Prospect, Plymouth, was created with the main aim of providing a quality learning environment for local people. The area is recognised as a very deprived area and therefore engaging local residents is key to the sustained improvement of the local community.

Processes

ProHelp,the Business in the Community Probono support network was contacted to provide help for the architectural re-design of the existing centre in terms of best use of space, drawing up architectural plans, carrying out a structural survey, quantifying and costing the project and providing support to the planning permission process. 

Stride Treglown, a member of a national group of architectural services were able to assist through the ProHelp scheme.

The whole redesign was completed within 8 months and the centre is now regarded as a role model of it’s type- receiving considerable press coverage for it’s impact on the local environment. Stride Treglown were presented with a gift by the Centre management team in recognition of their support.
