Business leadership towards a low carbon economy [1569kb PDF]

Following The Prince of Wales’s May Day Business Summit on Climate Change on 1 May 2007, which gathered together over 1,000 UK business leaders, Business in the Community has produced this publication to provide companies with best practice case studies to help them fulfil their May Day pledges to take on action on climate change in their companies and with their employees, suppliers and customers.

Case studies are provided by businesses including Sky, Tesco and IBM, and share learning in ten key areas such as the innovation of new products, resource efficiency and using renewable energy.  Business benefits explored in the publication include improved brand value, increased employee engagement and reduced costs.

The case studies are supported by six years of climate change data from Business in the Community’s leading benchmark – the Environment Index.

'Business leadership towards a low carbon economy' was sponsored by Barclays and also includes the Environment Index 2006 CD, sponsored by the Energy Saving Trust. The CD contains a detailed report on the results of Business in the Community’s Environment Index 2006, the 2006 survey questions and an example of the Individual Feedback Reports that participating companies receive.
