Business in the Environment’s annual Environment Index benchmarks companies against their peers, and against all companies that participate in the Index, on the basis of their environmental performance in key impact areas.
The 2004 report is structured by issue rather than by industry sector to help readers draw out key facts and trends and compare sector performance. The report includes best practice case studies for each environmental area, as well as expert input from a number of influential organisations. Performance trends since 1996 have also been analysed for each management and performance area.
The report summarises the level of environmental engagement of the 300+ Index participants in 2004. It presents average scores and analyses sector results for a variety of environmental issues, recognising areas where companies are performing well and areas for further improvement. The report has helped companies identify emerging environmental issues and ways of reducing risk, while providing credible, independent and comparable information to stakeholders.
'Growing Environment Engagement' is essential reading for FTSE 350 companies that are interested in 2004’s emerging environmental issues and the performance of companies and sectors that participated in the Environment Index.
