Legal & General, as part of their annual Internal Audit Conference, spent the day volunteering at The Children's Trust in Tadworth, Surrey. While some volunteers ran workshops for the charity's staff and senior management team, others were busy working in the 24 acre grounds.

The Children's Trust provides care, education, therapy and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and acquired brain injuries. They also offer respite, palliative, transitional and long term nursing care.

The workshops focused on Risk Management, Financial Crime & Business Resumption all areas that the staff felt they would benefit from knowing more about and while the Business Resumption session was aimed at a select group, the other two session were attended by approximately 30 members of staff.

Legal and General gave presentations, held round table discussions and engaged the charity staff in interactive sessions as well as providing them with information and material they could pass on to other colleagues.

Meanwhile, the team in the grounds planted a hedge to shield a play area from the road, weeded, cleared, pruned and helped to prepare the grounds for the spring. They planted several hundred bulbs which will provide colour and visual stimulation to the children in the springtime. With such large grounds and only two gardeners, the Children's Trust are always grateful for volunteers efforts.

The Children's Trust were delighted with the day and are looking forward to welcoming Legal & General back in the future; Legal & General staff enjoyed the day with 100% stating they would recommend the experience to others.
