Jenny Beacon - Partnership Broker

Jenny is from a corporate background having previously worked for 6 years with Mears Group, a large repairs and maintenance company. Her career originated in Customer and Community Care,  however she has spent the last 4 years as a CSR Manager, establishing the organisations CSR programme and employee volunteering activities.


Jenny joined Business in the Community in 2011 as a Partnership Broker  and has quickly established a number of successful community engagement activities for local businesses.

She has excellent knowledge of employee volunteering and is experienced in working together with community groups and businesses to develop and deliver employee volunteering partnerships.

Jenny has taken part in many fundraising events including abseiling for charity, however has yet to conquer her fear and take part in a sky-dive.

Mark McParland - Brighton Business Connector

Mark joined Sainsbury’s in 1979 as a Trainee Manager 'A' Level entrant working his way through the scheme up to Store Manager at the age of 29yrs. During his time with Sainsbury’s, Mark has also been responsible for the project management of 15 refit and major extensions’, covering all aspects of the project, from working with the builders to the health and safety and well-being of all colleagues and of course delivering on budget which could be as much as £15m.

Speaking on his new role, as a Business Connector with Business in the Community Mark said ‘I am of course extremely excited about my new role and also the fact that we are on a pilot. This will enable me to be in at the beginning of something really special and also to help shape how the role develops for those that come after us’.

Mark has been married to Liz for 28 years and has 3 girls and 1 boy.

Zoe Humphrey - Area Manager - 07810 854067

Zoe Humphrey - Area Manager

Zoe has worked within the voluntary sector for the past seven years. Her role has always  maintained a Corporate Responsibility focus, working with companies to develop employee volunteering strategies and provide them with suitable opportunities for their staff to volunteer within their local communities.

Zoe joined Business in the Community in 2011 as the Area Manager for Berkshire, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Zoe's role sees her work with a number of the regions large scale businesses and has helped established long term working relationships between local employers and schools.

She is passionate about Corporate Responsibility and recently undertook a Masters degree in Corporate Social Responsibility. Zoe focused her work around her enthusiasm for employee engagement during this course and studied skills development through employee volunteering.

Zoe is a keen traveller and spent 3 years abroad, travelling and working as a scuba diving instructor across Asia and Australia.
