Cooking on a Giro for South East HRH Ambassador

Temperatures rose in Southampton on Tuesday 30th August as the first ever ‘Cooking on a Giro‘competition was held at Patrick House a homeless hostel run by Two Saint’s. The event was attended by Business in the Community’s South East HRH Ambassador David Cook who amongst tasting some of the scrumptious dishes also presented an award to the winning chef.

The charity, which works with the homeless, encouraged residents to enter the competition to coincide with the launch of the Cooking on a Giro Cook Book.  The book aims to support homeless people in developing dishes to a tight budget, many of who are restricted to £10 a week spend on food.

David Cook South East HRH Ambassador, Business in the Community said ‘Attending events such as the ‘Cooking on a Giro’ is a great way for business leaders to understand some of the issues faced by disadvantaged people living in our local communities. Today has really helped in showing how you can cook some good gastronomic delights to a very tight budget.'
