Cares is Business in the Community’s national campaign engaging employees in their communities through volunteering.  The South West has a range of Cares initiatives that provide opportunities for business to impact on local communities, focusing on the areas of greatest need. 

What we're working on...

  • Bristol & West of England

    Bristol is home to 28% of the region's most deprived communities with approximately 25% of inhabitants having poor literacy and numeracy skills.  These figures fall below the national average.  Bath, North East Somerset & South Gloucestershire have another 11% of the region's greatest areas of deprivation.  We work with over 60 businesses in Bristol and the West of England positively impacting on over 70 community groups. 

  • Exeter

    Exeter is home to 14% of the region's most deprived communities with 23% of inhabitants having poor literacy and numeracy skills.  These figures fall below the national average.   We work with over 50 businesses in the Exeter area positively impacting on over 50 community groups. 

  • Gloucestershire

    Approximately 20% of the population in South Gloucestershire have poor literacy and numeracy skills out of a population of more than 248,000. 

  • Plymouth & Cornwall

    Over 50 businesses work with Cares in Plymouth & Cornwall making a positive impact on over 50 community groups. 

  • Swindon

    Swindon is home to 13% of the region's most deprived communities with 23% of inhabitants having poor literacy and numeracy skills. 

  • Wessex

    West Wiltshire is home to 2% of the region's most deprived communities with over 20% of inhabitants having poor literacy and numeracy skills.
