National Pro Bono Week 2007
National Pro Bono Week celebrated the valuable contribution that professionals make by working pro bono in their local communities, and created sustainable benefits for both professional firms and community organisations.
ProHelp, Business in the Community’s network of over 800 professional firms, organised workshops and advice surgeries across the country. Professional firms from legal, accountancy, IT, property services and marketing and PR sectors offered face-to-face advice and support to local community groups.
Pro bono support is a real positive for both professionals and community groups, and this was illustrated throughout the week. More than a hundred community groups benefited by gaining access to a full range of professional services, via the workshops, and many of these groups will receive ongoing, tailored support in the future. For the professionals involved, there were valuable opportunities to develop project management and presentation skills. Professionals also reported increased job satisfaction, thanks to engaging in worthwhile local community projects.
