The Environment Awards
Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence 2008 include 3 environmental categories for companies that are improving their impact on climate change, reducing resource use and waste, or showing environmental leadership across their business.

The environment categories
The Barclays Environmental Leadership Award, supported by the CBI
This Award was for companies demonstrating leadership and improved impact by embedding environmental strategy into core business processes. Only companies publicly ranked in the Platinum or Gold bands of the Environment Index 2007 were eligible to enter this Award.
The Lafarge Cement UK Eco-Efficiency Award, supported by Envirowise
This Award was for companies taking a strategic, comprehensive and innovative approach to reducing natural resource use and waste.
The Man Group International Climate Change Award
This Award was for companies in any country taking a strategic, comprehensive and innovative approach to tackling climate change. Those companies accredited with a prestigious 'Big Tick' in this category were announced at the May Day Summit 2008.
Previous winners
Winners in the environmental categories of the Awards for Excellence 2007 were Barclays, BSkyB and Lafarge Cement UK. They were presented with their Awards by HRH The Prince of Wales and Al Gore at the Royal Albert Hall in front of 1,800 business leaders.
