The Awards Process
Entering the Awards for Excellence 2008 is not complicated, as this step-by-step guide to the Awards process shows.
- Decide which category(ies) you would like to enter.
- Register on the Awards system and download the application pack(s).
- Write your entry. Use the guidance notes and headings in the application pack to help you complete your entry – remember to keep within the 4,000-word limit. And don’t forget, there are workshops available to support you.
- Upload your completed entry by logging back into the system. Entries submitted after midnight on 29 February 2008 will not be accepted. When you’ve successfully uploaded your entry, you’ll receive email confirmation and a reference number.
- Submit your Chief Executive’s sign-off form by 7 March.
- Your entry will be assessed by a panel of independent practitioners in March, who will decide if you have reached the standard to win a Big Tick.
- If you are eligible for either the Impact on Society Award or one of the Leadership Award you will be invited to apply during March.
- Results for the majority of categories will be announced by 18 April. You will find out whether your submission has won a Big Tick, and companies whose entries have reached the national Example of Excellence shortlist will also be notified.
- Shortlisted companies will attend judging panels in May to decide the Example of Excellence for their category. Panels are made up of senior independent judges.
- Written feedback will be sent to companies that did not achieve a Big Tick by 31 May.
- Big Ticks will be presented at the celebration events taking place across the UK during June.
- The Examples of Excellence will be announced at the Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner on 7 July 2008.
- Written feedback will be sent to Big Tick winning companies by 31 July.
