24 January - Launch of "MP's Guide to Responsible Business"

Business in the Community (BITC), with the support of Accenture, have produced an "MP's Guide to Responsible Business", which was launched at an event in the House of Lords hosted by the APPG on CR's Chairman, Sally Greengross, on 24 January 2007.  

7 March - Climate Change event - Screening of "An Inconvenient Truth" with the Corporate Responsibility Group

On 7 March the Group showed Al Gore's film, "An Inconvenient Truth" to Parliamentarians and invited guests, and followed the film with a panel-led discussion and a short reception.  We were delighted to hold this event jointly with the external Corporate Responsibility Group.  Panel members included: Baroness Greengross, Martin Horwood MP, Lord Newby, Ben Stimson of BSkyB and Adrian Hosford of BT.  

3 July - Annual General Meeting

The Group's AGM took place on 3 July in the House of Lords.   All the Officers with the exception of David Drew agreed to be re-nominated and were elected unopposed. David resigned after several years as an Officer and his position as Vice-Chairman has been taken by John Robertson, who was elected unopposed.

16 July - Summer Reception - Launch of Vulnerable Customers report

The Group's summer reception was held in the Jubilee Room of the House of Commons on 16 July.  Members of the Group were joined by invited guests, including many of the speakers who gave presentations to the inquiry team.  Baroness Greengross launched the report of the inquiry team.

6 November - Annual Dinner - Lucy Parker, Chairman of the new Talents and Enterprise Taskforce

The Group's annual dinner took place in the House of Commons on Tuesday 6 November.  The principal guest speaker was Lucy Parker, Chairman of the new Talents and Enterprise Taskforce.  Members also listened with great interest to Catherine Sermon, Business in the Community's (BITC's) Community Impact Director, describing BITC's work to help businesses make the most effective contribution possible to their communities.
