Nottinghamshire Cares

Nottinghamshire Cares is a Business in the Community campaign to engage employees in their communities through volunteering.  Nottinghamshire Cares aims to increase the quantity and impact of employee volunteering throughout Nottinghamshire focusing on education and employability.  Since its launch in 2002, nearly 60,000 hours have been donated with over 5,000 employees giving up their time.

How can companies get involved?

At Gala Coral Group we have found that our involvement with Business in the Community, Nottinghamshire Cares volunteering initiative has greatly benefited both the company and the individuals who take part.

Neal YoungGroup Performance Director, Gala Coral Group

In Nottinghamshire 29 Company Partners share best practice through our Leadership and Operations Team meetings.  These are held through out the year to allow businesses to network and learn from each other as well as learn about the needs of Nottinghamshire.

Lynne Wilson, Area General Manager, Royal Mail Group, is chair of the Nottinghamshire Cares Leadership Team. Our Operations Team is chaired by Oonagh Turnbull, Head of CRM & Community Investment, Boots The Chemist.

We will work with you to find a range of team projects suitable for your company and employees.  These could take the form of:

  • Painting a community centre
  • Creating a sensory garden
  • Taking older people or disabled people out for the day

Team challenges average 10 employees for one day and address certain needs in the community of Nottinghamshire.  We support you every step of the way with Team Leader Briefing and health and safety, without doing it for you!
