What is ENGAGE?

ENGAGE, an international campaign established in 2002, aims to increase the extent and scale of employee engagement in the development of healthy and sustainable communities, and seeks to focus employee skills and time within a wider community investment strategy.

Activities include secondments, skills transfer, professional or technical advice, mentoring, one-off or strategic team projects and traditional volunteering.

ENGAGE is delivered by a network of expert national partner organisations that facilitate quality employee engagement opportunities at a national and local level across the world. This group includes members of the CSR Europe, CSR Asia and Forum Empresa networks, as well as other community partnership specialists.

At the European level, ENGAGE aims to:

  • raise the profile of employee engagement
  • establish favourable conditions for community development partnerships
  • use the knowledge, experience and resources of its network of corporate practitioners and international partners to assist companies in delivering European community strategies
  • provide advice, training and ongoing coaching.

ENGAGE also has specific solutions for the various stages of employee community engagement (planning, implementation, development or maturity) that are designed to reduce the time it takes an organisation to successfully impact on communities in need.

ENGAGE is managed by Business in the Community, with support from the International Business Leaders Forum. It is supported and championed by an International Leadership Team that includes senior representatives from Allen and Overy, Freshfields Bruckhaus Derringer, GE Commercial Finance, IBM EMEA and Linklaters, and is co-chaired by Francesco Vanni d’Archirafi, CEO, Citigroup Global Transaction Services EMEA, and Mike Wareing, CEO, EMA KPMG.
