Edwin is the Chair of Business in the Community's North West Advisory Board.
Edwin Booth is the chairman of EH Booth & Co Ltd who are proprietors of Booths in the North of England. In addition, the company operates http://www.everywine.co.uk/ and http://www.booths-wine.co.uk/.
Edwin represents the fifth generation of the family that has operated the business since 1847. He entered the business immediately after school and quickly discovered a hunger for retailing. The purchase of wine became his specialty for many years enabling him to gain Booths national recognition for this important area of business. He subsequently developed a successful marketing function for the business prior to becoming Chairman in 1997.
Edwin became an HRH The Prince Of Wales “Business Ambassador” in 2005 and was a finalist for the Ernst & Young “Master Entrepreneur of the Year” (North). Later in the year he was awarded the Institute of Directors “Director of the Year” award for Lancashire and the North West.
Edwin has worked closely with the Lancashire Universities in the areas of leadership and business change programmes and is presently chairing the Business in the Community (BITC) Alumni Board in Manchester which is seeking to develop a programme of closer engagement between businesses and the educational establishment throughout the north west.
Edwin’s personal interests are wide and varied. He holds a private pilot’s licence and enjoys taking to the air when the opportunity arises. He is also interested in cars. Edwin enjoys classical music and maintains his physical fitness through cycling, walking and playing tennis with family and friends. Edwin and his wife Annie also have two young daughters.
