Bro McFerran
Managing Director, Northbrook Technology of NI Ltd
Bro McFerran is Managing Director of Northbrook Technology of Northern Ireland Ltd, Northern Ireland’s largest IT company, employing over 1400 people.
He took up this position in January 1999 when the company set up in Northern Ireland. He has held previous positions as Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing for IMRglobal Corporation, an IT Outsourcing company, based in Clearwater, Florida. He was joint- founder and Managing Director of Logicom Limited, a Northern Ireland based IT Services company he set up in 1980 and sold on in 1997. He is a shareholder in Relay Business Software, one of Northern Ireland’s largest indigenous software companies. He was one of the founding board members of the Software Industry Federation in Northern Ireland (now Momentum), and it’s second Chairman, and has served on a number of public advisory boards including chairing the ICT Forum for Belfast City Council, and a previous board member of the Information Age Initiative. He is currently a board member of the Centre for Software Process Technologies (CSPT), Springvale Training, Northern Bank and now Business in the Community. Mr. McFerran was awarded the “IT Professional of the Year” award by the Northern Ireland Branch of BCS in 2001 and this summer 2005 Bro was named in the Queen's Birthday Honours list and awarded the CBE – Commander of the British Empire for services to the IT industry in Northern Ireland.Mr McFerran was educated at St. Malachy’s College and Queen’s University, Belfast where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He is married with three children and lives in Belfast.
