Val Carter
Corporate Responsibility Director, Aramark
Val Carter has worked for ARAMARK for a total of twelve years. She joined as a support manager in the Business and Industry sector, moving on to manage a Conference Centre, before taking an Operations Manager role.
In 2000, she was promoted as an Operations Director in the Judicial division to mobilise the newly awarded Prison Shops contract. Val then went back to Business and Industry as an Operations Director.
In order to gain a more rounded experience of the ARAMARK business, Val joined Supply Chain as Senior Liaison Manager and, as part of her role, was the key point of contact for Defra on the PSFPI initiative. In this role, Val gained a good working knowledge of all of the businesses across the ARAMARK estate, including Education, Healthcare, Offshore and Defence.
A new role of Operational Excellence Director was introduced to the UK on Andrew Main’s, CEO, return from the USA. This required reviewing existing site-based processes and then revisiting, repackaging and re-energising them, before driving the updated procedures back into the business as standard operating practices. During this time, Val continued to lead ARAMARK’s approach to the PSFPI. Through this, there was a natural progression to her new role in 2007 of Corporate Responsibility Director.
With her vast working knowledge of the business as a whole, Val can clearly see where the opportunities lie and where the challenges will be, and is delighted to have been chosen to drive this critical area into the day-to-day activities of ARAMARK UK.
