Barbara Regnier, Director of Volunteering Management and Leadership

Barbara has worked in the voluntary and not for profit sectors for the best part of 25 years. She started as a volunteer with Citizens Advice, where she developed her management skills and a passion about learning at all levels within organisations.  

Prior to joining Volunteering England she worked in the social housing sector, where she was instrumental in setting up the Housing National Training Organisation and establishing an assessment centre for housing NVQs. She led the delivery of commercial services within a not for profit organisation, covering events, training, consultancy and publishing aimed at Chief Executives, Board Members and staff working in housing associaions.  

Over the past two years, she has been responsible for developing and delivering consultancy services, management and leadership development for volunteer managers, and in getting the Investing in Volunteers quality standard ready for roll out across the UK. She is currently leading a team to deliver a number of projects funded by government’s ChangeUp programme, including the Excellence in Volunteer Management Programme which aims to recognise and develop leadership in managers of volunteers and volunteering.
