2010 Yorkshire and Humber Environment Award Winners Announced

 

The 2010 Yorkshire and Humber Environment Leaders' group Climate Change Award winners were announced at our Gala Awards Dinner on 17 June 2010.

The awards supported by CO2Sense recognise and reward organisations in Yorkshire and Humber that successfully address the complex issues involved in mitigating against climate change, through the reduction of their environmental impact and in developing carbon reducing products and services.

  

The shortlisted organisations and winners are:

Carbon Reduction Award

This award is for the organisation in the region which can best demonstrate a holistic, integrated and sustainable approach to reducing its carbon footprint. 

The shortlisted organisations were:

  • Northern Rail
  • Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
  • University of Bradford

And the joint winners are:

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and University of Bradford

Innovation in the Low Carbon Economy Award

This award is to recognise an organisation that has turned the need to develop a low carbon economy into an opportunity, demonstrating innovation in their development and execution of climate change related products, services or solutions.

The shortlisted organisations were:

  • ICE Renewables
  • Kirklees Council

And the winner is:

Kirklees Council

Yorkshire and Humber Environment Index – Long Term Improvement Award

This award is designed to recognise the organisation that has shown the most consistent year-on-year improvement in the Business in the Community Yorkshire & Humber Environment Index, demonstrating outstanding commitment to environmental improvement over the last three years.

The shortlisted organisations were:

  • East Riding of Yorkshire Council
  • Hallmark Cards

And the winner is:

Hallmark Cards
