Andrew Bacon was appointed The Prince's Ambassador for Responsible Business in the East Midlands in 2014 and served for two years.
Andrew has been a committed and proactive member of the East Midlands Advisory Board for the last five years. He is always willing to share his advice and experience in supporting BITC to engage the business community in our initiatives, and to take a leadership role in the region.
Examples of this include him leading a Seeing in Believing visit in Leicester in September 2013 on Enterprise and Culture, providing mentors for the Leicester for Business programme, hosting a morning workshop to promote apprenticeships in Leicester and Leicestershire, as well as promoting a culture or employee volunteering within British Gas.
Andrew also encourages the other members of the East Midlands Advisory Board to get involved personally with volunteering; for example he has facilitated the next Board meeting to take place at St Ann’s Centre in Nottingham during Responsible Business Week, where the Board will volunteer sorting food and clothing donations to support people in deprived circumstances in the city.
Andrew is also keen to support BITC in recruiting new members, for example taking a table at our East Midlands Responsible Awards dinner for BITC target companies, where he shares his experience of working with BITC. ASRA Housing is a recent example of a company who have come into membership as a direct result of Andrew’s intervention.
As Chair of the Leicester and Leicestershire LEP, he has access to a large number of businesses across the region, and during his term as Ambassador he will continue to open doors for us in the business community.
