David Jones

David joined Waitrose in 1982 as a graduate trainee.  After 12 years in Retail, including 5 years as a Branch Manager he moved into Commercial.  Here he fulfilled roles as a Buying Manager in Meat, followed by a similar role in Dairy.  He spent 10 years in Commercial including time as the Buying Director responsible for Ambient goods.

He has also fulfilled a Corporate role at the John Lewis Partnership’s HQ as the senior appeal authority within the Partnership and sat on the John Lewis Department Store Board for 2½ years in a people role unique to the Partnership.  He moved back to Waitrose in August 2010 as Supply Chain Director before becoming Partnership Registrar Waitrose in October 2015.

Throughout his career David has been actively involved in the democracy.  He has been an active member of the Partnership Board for 11 years, as well as being a Pension Fund Trustee.  Just recently David completed 6 years as President of the Partnership Council – one of the governing bodies of the Partnership.
