John is Chairman of Corporate Culture and one of the world’s leading experts on sustainable business and sustainable behaviour change. He increasingly devotes his energies to working creatively with organisations to help them shape solutions to complex and challenging sustainability issues.
He has worked strategically with organisations such as ASDA, Anglian Water, BT, EDF Energy, O2, RBS and Sky, to help them develop sustainable business strategy. He is the founder of The Social Marketing Network and the Social Marketing Academy.
At the end of the 1990’s when he was Group Communications Director at United Utilities, he developed one of the UK’s first total impact on society strategies and pioneered the use of behaviour change campaigns in the UK.
The approach helped increase customer satisfaction from around 40% to over 80% in three years and UU won the BitC Company of the Year in 2000.
John was the strategic lead on Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) campaigns to increase home recycling and reduce food waste. He has sat on numerous Government task forces to help develop thinking on behaviour change and sustainable business practice. And he is the founder of The Social Marketing Network and the Social Marketing Academy.
John is passionate about film, photography, music, sport and opportunities in education for young people with special needs.
