Neil Wood

Neil is a Health Improvement Manager in Public Health England’s (PHE) Anglia and Essex Centre, his policy leads are around improving health in the work place, promoting tobacco control and reducing the prevalence of smoking. Neil leads the place-based working for the PHE Centre with Suffolk.

Prior to his transfer to PHE in April 2013, Neil was part of the Department of Health’s regional presence in the East of England. As Senior Public Health Development Manager his areas of responsibility included sustainability and the NHS, health in the context of the built and natural environments and health at work.

Neil’s career in the Civil Service started with Jobcentre Plus / Department for Work and Pensions and their predecessor organisations to November 2007.

His last role with Jobcentre Plus was as Regional External Relations Manager with specific policy leads for Child Poverty, Welfare Reforms and the Voluntary and Community Sector, Offender Learning and Skills / National Offender Management / Prison Adviser Network and Vulnerable Groups and Benefit Rights Organisations.

From November 2007 to July 2009, Neil managed the Regional Director's Office at the Government Office (GO) for the East of England and was responsible for managing relationships and GO networks in support of the Regional Director's Whitehall policy leads for DIUS/PSA2, Department of Transport/PSA 5, Government Equalities Office/PSA15, Department for work and Pensions/PSA17 and Ministry of Defence.
