Patrick is Chairman of smart materials business D3O, the EY Foundation and the Board of Companions of the Chartered Management Institute. His executive career was in the chemicals and private equity industry with Air Products and 3i where he was Group Communications Director and a member of its operating committee until 2012. He is a regular speaker and commentator on boardroom issues and an established author on the topic. Patrick is a tutor on FT, BVCA and ICAEW NED courses and serves on the advisory boards of Bridges Social Entrepreneurs Fund and The Entrepreneurs Fund.
He has a passion for education and served as a member of the General Council of Warwick University from 2006 to 2015. He is a Visiting Professor at Cranfield School of Management and was Chairman of LEAP – Confronting Conflict, the UK’s leading charity in the area of youth and conflict, from 2006 to 2015. In 2006 he founded Warwick in Africa a charity which transforms maths and English teaching which has benefitted over 210,000 young Africans in some of the poorest schools in Ghana , South Africa and Tanzania.
