Sarah is an Investment Director at Impetus-PEF. Impetus-PEF is the UK pioneer in venture philanthropy, an engaged model for scaling up the impact of charities and social enterprises, that applies the disciplines of private equity / venture capital investing to the social sector. Impetus helps ambitious organisations achieve their vision through a combined package of unrestricted funding, hands-on investment management and capacity building support delivered by a network of professional pro bono advisors.
As a member of the investment team, Sarah's responsibilities include managing a number of Impetus-PEF's charity investments. This involves supporting management teams in areas of work which include strategy, business planning, diversification of income and monitoring and evaluation.
Sarah has more than fifteen years' experience in venture capital and fund management. She most recently worked for SV Life Sciences, a leading international life sciences venture capital firm, making investments in private and publicly quoted biotechnology companies. Prior to this, Sarah worked for Framlington Investment Management where she managed a unit trust that invested in small, fast growing companies in continental Europe. She has an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge and a professional qualification in fund management (AIMR).
