Sharon is the Health and Safety Engagement Manager for UK Power Networks, the company which owns and operates the public electricity distribution networks in East Anglia, London and the South East and which also maintains private electricity networks for external clients such as BAA, Ministry of Defence and the rail industry.
Sharon worked as an environmental consultant for eight years before joining the electricity industry in 1998 and has held a variety of health and safety positions. She is now responsible for improving health and safety knowledge and promoting engagement, development and delivery of the occupational health strategy within UK Power Networks and its 5,500 strong workforce, as well as managing the Company’s incident reporting and investigation system.
She is passionate about raise the profile of health issues and wellbeing among employees and contractors alike. Her motivation and drive in this arena led her to be formative in the development and delivery of her company’s Towards Zero health and wellbeing strategy, which was recognised by BITC as the winner of the East of England Business Action on Public Health Award 2013 and shortlisted for the Bupa Workwell Award 2013.
