Steve Mogford was appointed Chief Executive of United Utilities PLC in March 2011. FTSE100 listed, United Utilities provides water and wastewater services to approximately seven million customers in the North West of England.
Steve qualified from London University in 1977 with a first class honours in Astrophysics, Mathematics and Physics, before joining British Aerospace at its North West based military aircraft business. During his long career with the company, Steve held a number of senior positions before being appointed Chief Operating Officer and a member of the BAE Systems plc Board between 2000 and 2007. In this role, he led the group's major programmes businesses engaged in the design, development, production and support of military aircraft, warships and nuclear submarines.
In May 2007 Steve joined Finmeccanica, Italy's principal defence and security company, as Chief Executive of SELEX Galileo; a subsidiary with operations in several countries and providing sensor systems to customers around the world. Steve left Finmeccanica in December 2010 to join the Board of United Utilities PLC before becoming Chief Executive in March 2011.
Steve is also a non executive director with Carillion plc, the leading support services and construction company.
