Seeing is Believing Visit: Tackling Youth Unemployment

Date:

Time: to

Venue:
Liverpool

Visit led by Fiona Gibson, Managing Director, (North), Accenture, The Prince’s Ambassador for Responsible Business in the North West.

This Seeing is Believing visit will highlight how businesses can take action on tackling youth unemployment in Liverpool. It will include visits to three organisations in the city who are working with young people who have multiple barriers to employment to help get them back into work.

The percentage of 18-24 year olds in the Liverpool City Region currently claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) is 10% against a national average of 6.8% while 11.3% of 16-19 year olds in Liverpool are classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), compared with 7.3% in the North West and 5.9% in England.  In addition, 18.2% of young people in Liverpool have no qualifications, compared with 10.6% nationally.

During this visit you will hear about the type of barriers to work facing many 16-24 year olds in  the city. We will show you how your business can help build the skills and confidence of young unemployed people for employment, for example by offering work placements and apprenticeships.
