Daryl Scales, Vice President of Finance for Europe, Enterprise Rent-A-Car
As the Vice President of Finance for Europe, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Daryl Scales is responsible for the company’s accounting and reporting functions in the UK, Ireland, Spain, France and Germany, as well as the reporting and integration of a growing number of franchise partnerships across the continent.
He has been with the business for nearly 30 years and has played a pivotal role in the expansion of the Enterprise brand in Europe, where the business now operates more than 1,000 branches and has a fleet in excess of 150,000 vehicles.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, USA, Daryl graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1984, when he began his career as an Auditor at Arthur Andersen.
In 1986, Daryl joined Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a Group Auditor at the corporate office in St. Louis. Two years later, Daryl moved to New York to open Enterprise's operations in the city and worked as Regional Controller.
After a successful six years in New York, Daryl returned to the corporate offices in St. Louis as a Corporate Business Manager. In this role, Daryl not only worked with all the Business Managers in a specific territory within the US, he project managed a number of information system initiatives and the introduction of a number of corporate initiatives.
Daryl was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Business Management for the UK and Ireland in 1997. He is one of the original Enterprise employees who relocated to London to open Enterprise's first overseas corporate office in September 1997. In February 2005, Daryl was promoted to Vice President of Finance for the UK and Ireland.
More recently, Daryl’s role has been of a more international nature. In 2011, Daryl was promoted to his current role of Vice President of Finance for Europe. He played a key role in the 2012 acquisition of Citer and Atesa from PSA Peugeot Citroën, which took the Enterprise brand into France and Spain.
Daryl is a passionate advocate of diversity in business. Under his stewardship, Enterprise became one of the founding members of Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) and was named as the organisation’s Corporation of the Year in 2008. Daryl also champions race and ethnic diversity at Enterprise throughout its European operations.
He lives in Ascot, Berkshire with his wife Connie and they have two adult sons.
