Malcolm Hyde is the Executive Director of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters. In 1980 he started his career with Commercial Union in North London in the Underwriting Department and, after one year, he was offered the opportunity to work in the Claims Department and this area of insurance soon captured his attention.
In 1984 Malcolm joined Chartered Loss Adjusters, Ellis & Buckle in South London, this was at a time of considerable growth within the loss adjusting industry and, in 1993, he became the Manager of Ellis & Buckle’s Guildford office. This led to Malcolm’s involvement in IT and training and project related work and, finally, a three year departure from loss adjusting when he became a Business Consultant for a software company that specialised in insurance software.
However, after three years and projects in Scotland, London and Paris, Malcolm returned to Loss Adjusting with Ashworth Mairs Group. Here he took a technical and project management role and eventually a place on the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters’ Council as the Examinations Committee Chairman. This led him along a path and he eventually became the Executive Director of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.
Malcolm co-authored Property Insurance Law and Claims which was published in 2010 and is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters and the Chartered Insurance Institute and has a Diploma in French.
