Marco Pagni was appointed to the main Board of Alliance Boots in 2007 and is also Group Legal Counsel & Chief Administrative Officer.
Prior to this, Mr Pagni held senior management positions at McDonald's Corporation in the United States and Texas Instruments Inc., having started his career as a law lecturer at Oxford University before being admitted to the Bar in England and Wales.
Mr Pagni plays an active role in Alliance Boots’ Corporate Social Responsibility agenda. He sits on the Alliance Boots Social Responsibilities Committee and chairs the health and safety committee. Alliance Boots has supported the Work Inclusion Programme for many years through Business Action on Homelessness.
In 2011 Mr Pagni led a Seeing is Believing visit to HMP Downview and HMP High Down which fostered a strong personal commitment to support ex-offenders and give them a second chance. Mr Pagni subsequently formed an employer-led task force to understand the challenges faced by men and women with criminal convictions looking to gain employment.
He acts as an ambassador for the BITC campaign Ban the Box, calling on UK employers to give people a second chance by removing the tick box from application forms that asks about criminal convictions. He continues to work in partnership with suppliers and the wider business community to understand the barriers to progress in this area and to explore ways to overcome them
